Applying H1b extension from India?

Hi,

My H1b visa expires in March 2013. My employer has filed an extension for one month which buys me time till April 18th 2013.

However the approval of the extension hasn't come through yet as its not filed in premium processing.

I have a PERM application pending with PD June 2012 but given the slow processing of the DOL, I fear I will not get my PERM approved and I140 filed by April 18th. Hence my I was wondering if I can now go to India and then file another h1b extension on April first week which could buy be one more month of H1b and that way I would work on H1b till June 2013. And then with my pending PERM I get another year of h1b extension.

Is that possible - filing H1B extension from India and while another extension is already in process? Or does a PERM extension needs an I94?
