kausar91 Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Hello, Is it possible for someone to go to H1 directly from F1 without OPT/CPT? Is it possible that an employer will file H1 for someone who is in F1 status and will work if approved?
JoeF Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Sure, that's possible. F1 and H1 are independent of each other.
wiweq Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 O in OPT stands for optional. Second, one can go to different status anytime. H1b is also possible in middle of F1. But this will make problem during GC or other immigration matters. You would be asked the reason behind changing your F1 intent.
t75 Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Yes, as long as you possess at least a BS/BA degree at filing.

itsmeusa Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Yes, definitely provided the beneficiary (you) have education + experience as required for that H-1B position.
