Time frame within which to apply for h1 amendment ?

My company was acquired by another company just recently. As far as i know since there is a FEIN change, i would need to file an amendment. My question, is there any time frame within which to apply for the status change. Since i am still getting paid by my employer i am assuming that my status is still valid. Please if anyone could let me know.
