H1B visa status on resignation and H4 stamping process during India visit ?

Hi Sirs/ Gurus,

I may have to immediately resign from a reputed Indian IT company as they want to send me back TO India and I want to continue here in US.

I have valid H1B for another 10 months and it can be extended there on. I don't have a job in hand yet. I am very worried and have around 15 days. My profile is of QA lead as of now. Please let me know whatever you know. I will appreciate it.

I have following 5 questions.

1 - If I resign and they release me say today, How many days from today do I have legally to stay in US and find another job and the employer who can transfer my H1B?

2 - Can anyone suggest me any good employer who can transfer my H1 immediately before I get any project. I am sure I will crack some interview shortly. I know most employers want us to get the project first. But Still, there are some who can take me even when I dont have a project yet. Any suggestions/names/phone numbers ?

3 - Do Indian IT companies revoke the H1B after the employee has resigned?

4 - I heard, In such a case you may change ur status to a visitor visa, Is this true? how is it done?

5- My wife had planned to visit India for a month and leaving in 1 week from now. If I transfer my H1B to another employer meanwhile. Will she need new H4 stamping to come back? Can there be any trouble in getting that?
