H4 to first time H1b: When can I start work after approval notice: Oct or before?

I am currently on H4 visa and have found a possible sponsor for my H1b visa (first H1b). If everything goes well, the visa application would be filed on 1st April and the approval notice would be recieve by (say sometime in June for regular processsing or earlier for premium processing). Can I start working immediately after getting the approval notice or do I have to wait till Oct 1 or so?

Huh? Where?

An H1 under the quota can only start Oct. 1. That's all there is to it. It's not rocket science.
