ac21eb3toeb2 Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 I have raised SR as outside processing and I got a mail like bellow today, and I see update on my onine case status. WHat is that mean ? Just now I got a mail from texas service center for my SR as reply..bellow. Your case is currently under review and is actively being processed by an officer. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter. ____ And I saw an update to my case status online changed as -- On January 9, 2013, your address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed. Please check our website atwww.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance. --- Wondering, If the people who got approved also got the same type of update on their case ?
Belle Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 The status is often unreliable. Have you had an address change in the past?
ac21eb3toeb2 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Report Posted January 10, 2013 While back in july 2007, I have a diff address and on 2 nd jan when I opened a SR for out side process time, the officer asked me all the details and he asked me the current address also. SO is it because of the address updated by him ? Or because " under review and is actively being processed by an officer." ???
Belle Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 It might be because the address was updated. Under review means somebody is looking at it (as opposed to sitting on a shelf waiting for something). Generally, it means either the decision or RFE would follow.
sarz Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 Hello, It appears alot of people got this status update recently. Couple of days back my approved 140's status changed to initial review due to change of address and my last address change was July 2012. It could be a system glitch but I am not completely sure. If someone has more information on this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
sarz Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 Belle - Could you please comment on this status change of approved I140?
Belle Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Belle - Could you please comment on this status change of approved I140? What kind status change?
sarz Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 My Approved I140 status was changed to Initial Review. Your Case Status: Initial Review On January 15, 2013, your address was changed relating to the I140, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance. During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. Little background on the case: My 485 was filed last year and received EAD card. USCIS sent the RFE for EVL and my petitioning employer (who filed as a future GC) wasnt responding so I filed AC21 after 180 days and sent the EVL from H1-B employer. After a month of that, the 140 status was changed to Initial Review. I am not sure what happened and what caused this. Could it be a system glitch or original petitioning employer has done anything with 140? Thanks so much for your response.
Belle Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 Initial review does not really mean anything. It's a placeholder.
sarz Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 Thanks Belle, but my 140 was approved and what I dont understand, why it would go back to Initial Review?

My approved I-140 also changed to Initial Review and I see the exact same status(except for the date part) as yours. Did the status of I-140 change for you after a few days or is it still in Initial Review?
typicaldesi Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 I took an Infopass appointment and it looks like the I-140 is still in approved status, no new RFE or NOIR notice, they just updated the address, however the online status still is Initial Review.
sarz Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Thank you for the update. It gives me a big relief to hear this. My I140 is still in Initial Review. Did you also do AC21 which resulted in this change of status?
