Degree required : Masters in engineering or Masters in mechanical engineering

Hello,

I am working in IT field and my employer has started my PWD for GC filling.My lawyer has sent a draft of Job requirement where He has mentioned required qualification for the job is Masters in mechanical, becuase of my masters in mech. But I wanted to know, What is the safe way to handle this ? Is it okay to mention only Masters in engineering rather than Masters in mechanical for IT job profiel ?

Why would your particular degree be required for your job?

Just making up some stuff is not going to work.

If you are working in the "IT field", then why would your employer's job description require a Masters degree in mechanical engineering? A job description / requirements cannot be specific to an employee (education and experience) and must be relevant to the job duties. Unless you are working as a mechanical engineer with a mechanical engineering company (in which case your Master degree would be applicable), what you posted will most likely be caught and result in a denial.
