zak74 Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Hi, My PD Nov 2008 and I became current in Jan 2012. I got my EAD/AP on April 30 2012. It's expiring in April 2013. 1. How soon can I apply for renewal? 2. Is there a fee for renewal? 3. Do I need an attorney for the renewal application or is it simple enough to do it myself? Thanks Zee
pontevecchio Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 I SUSPECT you can apply up to 90 days before expiry. Read the instructions in the USCIS website. It is a simple process.
kalyan_ac Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 You can apply upto 120 days before the expiry of EAD/AP. If your PD is after 2007,you do not have to pay anything. You dont really need an attorney to do this.
finn Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 " If your PD is after 2007,you do not have to pay anything." INCORRECT! This does not have anything to do with the priority date. It's related to when you filed your AOS (I-465). If you filed for AOS on or before July 31, 2007 the fees apply.
zak74 Posted January 9, 2013 Author Report Posted January 9, 2013 Thank you all. One more question. In the mean time, my old passport expired and I have a new passport. When sending EAD/AP renewal application, should I send copies of my new or old passport?
kalyan_ac Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 There is no need to send your passport copy.
zak74 Posted January 13, 2013 Author Report Posted January 13, 2013 H1B awiting decision on I-485 with an existing EAD which I am applying for renewal. Just confirming the category that I should choose in EAD application. Is it C(9)? Page 4 Item 7.A in the instructions ? http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-765instr.pdf Filing Fee: None. If applying under C(9) or C(16) category andI applied for I-485 after July 30 - 2007. Documents: Copy of I-94 (not required if filing under C(9) cateogry. Two passport size photographs taken in last 30 days. A copy of last EAD front and back. A copy of the tear of receipt that came with the EAD card.
zak74 Posted January 13, 2013 Author Report Posted January 13, 2013 I'm renewing an EAD/AP combo card. Should I also send the Form I-131 Application for Travel Document?
zak74 Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 In the AP form, they have asked for a document for identity. I have recently got a new passport in Dec 2013. When I applied I-485/EAD/AP in 2012, I sent the old passport pages with I-94 page, last visa entry etc.. Should I send the first and last page of new passport only now? Also, I see in internet there are cover letter and check list of things to send with the application. They are listing all documents like I-140, I-94, Receipt and approval notices of EAD/AP etc.. whereas I do not see those listed in the instructions. Is that all necessary or good to send it to be safe? Should any of these documents be notarized?
kalyan_ac Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 You may send the drivers license, passport as identification documents. Its better to send a cover letter. Having I140 is good but not necessary. Also include, online status of I485, EAD/AP USPS mail. You do not have to notarize them.
chintu45 Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Different topic: Is the extension granted 1 or 2 year for EAD/AP renewal?
zak74 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Report Posted January 15, 2013 I relocated recently so I still have my old state's DL though I should have got one in the new state soon. My passport is new. Is it OK to send it since I sent copies of my old passport while I applied I-485 and EAD first time? You may send the drivers license, passport as identification documents. kalyan_ac Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Different topic: Is the extension granted 1 or 2 year for EAD/AP renewal? It varies from case to case, most probably it may be renewed for 2 years.
zak74 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Report Posted January 16, 2013 You can send the copy of passport. Sorry to ask again. I want to know if I can send the copy of my new passport (which doesn't have any of the previous stamping entry date etc..). Or should I send the copy of my old passport as well?
kalyan_ac Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 New passport should be just fine as it is for identity purposes only.
zak74 Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 How long does EAD/AP Combo card renewal take to process?
chintu45 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 It took for me about month and a half....
Attorney_25 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 In order to receive the "combo card" you must file the EAD application AND the AP application at about the same time. Expect the process to take about 90 days, although it may be shorter. If it is longer, you can call USCIS to follow-up. There will be a comprehensive article on EAD and AP issues coming out on Murthy Bulletin in the near future.

I sent all in one package with cover letters. I applied in Feb1st. So it may be still too early. But I wanted to get an idea as I have to plan things accordingly.
aizam Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Zee, It would be of a great help if u can list out the forms and supporting documents you submitted for EAD AP combo renewal application. Or if you can direct me to a good resource that will be of great help. Thanks.
zak74 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks everyone! I got my EAD/AP combo card in mail this Saturday. Around 42 days from the date USCIS received my application. They have given 2 year extension.
