Anyone mailed Passport to Canada Consulate (TRV) @ NYC?

Did anyone recently mailed there passport to Canada consulate at New York City for Canada TRV?

How long did it take for you to get you passport back from the consulate?

I mailed my passport and it is over 45 days now and I am still waiting, appreciate if you guys can share your experience. Anyone in the same boat as mine?

Mail in takes longer time about 30 days. With the holidays (thanksgiving) when you sent your documents, and now Christmas, it might take a little more time than that. You should contact the Consulate even though you might not a reply right away.

even i have mailed my passport to NYC canada embasyy in Novemeber mid, i haven't got it back yet. Is there any way to track it?

I applied in mail too, but as it is more than 30 days to process. I went in person and took my passport back. And applied in person.

Got it in 2 days.

Process I did.

Went to the consulate and told that I need my passport back because i have an emergency. (you need to be there by 8 -10, If not they will ask you to come next day)

They will give you a form to fill stating your emergency.(I told Wedding )

Give the form back (gave back at 8:30)

You will get a call before 10:30 (I got at 9:30)

They will ask you to get in and collect your passport.

(Here is the trick. I asked the lady if I can apply in person. She was surprised ans asked me , 'you said that you have an emergency'. I told I can wait for 2-3 days. So she took my application on spot as in person application ).

But as per rules if you withdraw your application they will not refund your application money.

In my case they used the same money for my in person application

I finally got mine back last week, it took a total of 52 days for me to get it. I was checking the tracking of the return mailing packet and noticed that they shipped it back on the 51st day and I got it the next day.

Hang-on guys ...and be patient....good luck.!

guys I think LA is the best i mailed mine on monday & i had my passport in my hand stamped with visa the following week thursday took less then 2 weeks including usps prority mail time
