How to find if Petition or I797 is still valid

Hi,

I worked in company X till May end 2011 and left USA and they had already given me another I797 till 2013 Oct. After leaving that company, does that I797 stand cancelled?? (they told me they had notified USCIS). Also is there any possibility tat this can be transferred to any other company now? Or it cant be used at all ?

The fact that you have been cap counted means you are entitled to a total of 6 years in H1 status. Their H1 petition is worthless now. You need to find a H1 sponsor. You can have the remainder option at any time not subject to cap or wait for a cap subject H1 giving you 6 more years possibly.
