Stamping for H1B first time

I came to US on H4 and got my H1B in oct 2011.I got my first project in Aug 2012 and the project will end in March.

And in Feb I am planning to go to India for stamping my H1,but all my friends are advising me not to go India now as there are issues

going on.

So,I would like get advise for this.

Is that Ok,if I go to Mexico or Canada for my first time H1B stamping?

Please suggest.
