Query on bringing spouse H1 or H4 to USA

Hi,

I am working on H1B for company A. My wife got H1B thru my employer this year. In I-797 approval notice, it was specified chennai consulate. My friends and employer are suggesting me to bring my wife on H4 rather going thru H1B visa stamping. Even I checked with my attroney, he is not telling clear about it. Does it have any issue if I bring my wife on H4? Will it be a problem when switching to H1 visa if she comes on H4? She doent have H4 visa now. Based on suggestions, I am planning to send her for H4 stamping. Please suggest.

She can go for the H1 visa and if refused she can come in H4 status. Please do not get Immigration advice from friends.

If your employer suggested bypassing stamping, I'd be worrying about the employer. A legitimate employer would encourage stamping without fear of denial unless your wife has poor credentials.
