J1 to H1-B premium processing

Hi,

Currently I am on J-visa. My new employer will file a H1-B petition soon under premium processing. The dates on my H1-B petition are from December 3rd, 2012. If my H1-B petition gets accepted in November last week, I can give a 1 week notice to my current employer.

But my question is, if my H1-B gets approved on or after December 3rd, What would be my status after H1-B approval and before joining new company?

I would like to serve a notice period of at least 1 week at my current job, so would I still have J-visa status until I do some kind of paper work at the new employer, before H1-B takes into effect?

By the way I already have J-waiver approved by both DOS and USCIS.
