nyc_indian Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Hi, I am currently living in New York and I am going to India early next month for H-1B stamping at the Chennai consulate. I'm a little confused by the new process as I have not done this before. My understanding is that this is the process i have to follow: 1. Pay Fees 2. Fill DS-160 online 3. Schedule 2 appointments. Is that right? Also, I am not sure how to make the payment. I see the option to pay it online but the only options I see are from banks within India. I do not see any option otherwise. Is there a way I can make a payment from the US? If not, can I get a friend or a relative to make a payment from their bank account in India? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
cooldude76 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 The points listed are correct. Regarding payment of fees pls don't pay by NEFT transfer there are a few cases where the receipt is not activated after 10 days, better to pay money in cash at Axis bank. Follow www.ustraveldocs.com/in/ For further step to step procedure.
nlr_km Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 First you need to create a profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/ , from there it will generate a payment details for your profile , you have to pay fee based on that payment request generated for your profile. You can pay fee online ( from Indian bank accounts ) through mobile payments ( from india ) and also through banking centeres ( you have to take the form generated to your profile ) . Once you pay the fee it will automatically shows up in your profile that your payment is received and it will allows you to schedule an appointment. While creating profile it will ask for you DS from id . So you have to fill DS forms at leaset basic information and it geneates id for you . Hoep this helps you.
nyc_indian Posted November 16, 2012 Author Report Posted November 16, 2012 Thanks! This definitely helps. I will schedule today and make a payment right away. I am travelling to India for two weeks in the beginning of December. Do you think that I will get an appointment date during the first two weeks in December or is it already too late?
