4top455 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Hi folks , I appeared for first time (ever) H1b stamping at Toronto on 11/5 .Process was as described by everyone in multiple posts.Interview was straightfwd: Q:Ur a doc? A:Y Q:what kind A: xxxcian Q:So you were on H4 then J1 and now H1 right? A:Yes Q: I'd be happy to grant you a visa sir! A: Thank you very much I then asked him reg I94 : which one /where to submit (I have not left US since 2001 so have a few of those ) The answer was "we don't really look at those so closely for h visas etc Only for B1 etc that is scrutinized .Just do what the CBP folks suggest ." That was interview day . Waited all of 6th and 7th but no response /email from LOOMIS/consulate ! Recd email from LOOMIS on 7th night at 10 ish saying "PP received not ready for pickup" Later same night consulate website updated saying PP ready for pickup. 11/ 8 : drove to LOOMIS location and collected stamped PP and I797 submitted during interview!!!! Hoping to get back this wknd !! Thank you everyone for sharing and helping each other !!! Feel free to ask any q's and ill try to reply if I can Goood luck and god was everyone!!

4top455 Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Posted November 9, 2012 Toronto intl Airport:Pearson .You could also look at Billy bishop which is closer to downtown I stayed at a friends place and other part at the Hilton toronto for two nights then with friend. There are several hotels close to the consulate .Pick one based on how much you want to spend. My intview was at 115 pm They asked to line up at 1 and was ushered in at about 145 pm after they verified confirmation email and passport Inside they assign/verify your PP pickup choice (I chose Brampton) and put ur pp and ds160 and I 797 in a folder and give you a token Next you wait till token is called .This is for doc check and you submit the blue folder.Take a new pic if needed (bring CAD 10 dollars for that) Then wait : next you will be called for finger printing(if u haven't had it ....I had not so did that) Then wait for VO :this is longest waiting period and gives you time to get your thoughts organized The interview itself depends on the VO,your job specifics and background etc. Your case is most likely already decided , the interview serves to verify and/or provide you an oppurtunity to explain things you couldn't or have not. Hope that helps!!
