Visa Stamping in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

One year back myself and my brother attended and it's very smooth. Usually very less % of people know about this location and hence very few people (probably hardly 2 digit applicants for H1B) will attend in this consulate.

I'm not sure the reason behind neglecting Mexico and people are running for Canada. Upto my knowledge many H1B applicants use to attend in Tijuana and Metamoros alot. But now a days I hardly see people attended in any consulate in Mexico in any forums.

But I sincerely suggest going to places where there is less crowd of H1B applicants if anyone is in EVC or EVVC model and hence I selected Ciudad Juarez in 2009 and 2011. Both the interviews are very smooth.

FYI, we both are in EC and EVC model respectively.

NOTE: You do not need Mexican visa if your existing US visa is valid. If your existing US visa is expired then you need Mexican tourist visa. Apart of this you need to get a temporary permit irrespective you have Mexican visa or not. It's mexico rule. We can get this permit in the border when you enter to Mexico.

Good Luck!!

I think I read in multiple posts in this forum itself that:

  • First-time H-1B stamping applicants (e.g., F1/B1/L1 --> H-1B) can't go to Mexico.
  • For H-1B renewal stamping, Mexico is fine.

That's the reason, I'm going to Vancouver-Canada; despite Tijuana-Mexico being closer to the Bay area!

Yes, I've been there thru agent. Agent in the sense he will provide us transportation only from El Paso, TX to Ciudad Juarez & return. His name is Victor Garcia. You can get some hotels for good reasonable prices thru Victor Garcia as he has good relationship with some hotels around US Consulate in Juarez.
