sandyg37x Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Hi Guys... I would like to share my H1b stamping experience on EVC model in Ottawa. I landed in Ottawa on 28th, well head of hurricane Sandy's landfall. It was a rainy forecast, temperature into 40s. So I carried my winter jacket, & umbrella, those were allowed inside in the consulate. I left rental car key, umbrella after the security check point. A Lady at the entrance examined my passport, I797 at first. then at cashier counter, my passport & I797 was collected & then asked about my status in Canada, given a token number & acknowledgement sheet that I’m telling the truth to the best of my knowledge. And at counter #4, Gave the acknowledgement sheet & finger printing was done there. After waiting for 10 minutes… Got called from Counter #2 VO: Good morning sir Me: Good morning sir Vo: How are you doing? Me: Very good. How are you? Vo: So you have your masters from Univ *** Me: Yes, sir *** & said my univ’s sports team name Vo: Do you work for a client? Me: yes for *** Vo: Is there any vendor Me: Yes, there is a vendor Vo: How many vendor 1 or 2. Me: only 1 VO: Do you have letters from them Me: Sure. Gave letters VO: (after reading through letters for about 1.5 minute). Who is the client & the vendor? Me: **** Vo: How long you are working for this client? ME: Duration *** months Vo: Who were you working before with? Me: *** Vo: Was there any break between that. Me: No Vo: Your visa is approved. (Returned all letters & I797) Me: Thank you very much sir VO: Here is the instruction sheet to look for your passport. It will take about 3 business days to get passport. You can expect it maximum by Friday. Oct 31 around 6pm.. .Got the Loomis email with waybill number saying the passport has been picked up from consular section.. Here is my 2 cents… If you are on EVC or EC, you need client letter or print out of an email from the client manager & vendor letter(s). I heard one conversation when VO was specifically asking about this information to one person. Your client letter should have the similar information… (You are full time employee of your company & you are only contracted to work with client for your current assignment.. you are being paid by your employer & only your employer has full managerial & supervisory control over you on hiring/firing decisions, salary & benefits etc. Client/ Vendor have no managerial control on your employment... if your client letter doesn't have this information, Looks like the consulate is emailing the questions to the client. Thanks to Murthy forum & Good luck to All!

bs_our Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 Hi Guys, I came to US 2 years back on L1 visa and then i change my status from L1 to H1. Now i am on H1 visa. So I am just wondering can i go Canada for H1 stammping, since this would be first time H1 stammping beacuse i came to US on L1 visa. Note: I have 2 years USA exp and all my education from India (But i have education evaluation document from USA) Would change of status from L1 to H1 stamping could be done in Canada, or should i go to my Home country for stammping. Please suggest me.
