H1 Transfer/extention after 180 Days of I-485

I am on my 8th Year of H1B visa with EAD in hand and 485 filing is over 180 days. Can I change job with H1 Transfer with New Employer and based on pending I-485 application with first employer get 3 year extention. Thus continuing my Greencard application with First Employer, working on H1B with New employer and maintaining , but not using EAD?

yes, one of my friends just did that.

He moved to a new company and his new company is filing for his H1 (even though he has EAD).

will have to wait and see how many years extension he would get though.
