Travel with AP - Employer I-9 form

I am travelling using my AP\EAD card soon. My H1 is valid but stamping is expired. Do i need to have my employer update the I-9 form before my travel so that, Upon my return, at the Port of entry, the officer can validate my EAD\AP card?

Or updating the I-9 form is not required until I come back?

Updating I-9 is only required when you 1) start a new job or 2) your status expires and is extended. I-9 has little to no impact on your immigration status, and it is used for employer compliance. It has nothing to do with your entry.
