dishitha
Hi All, I got the canadian visitors visa in NYC Consulate on 07/09/2012. There was some confusion whether NYC has in person interview or not. I am posting my experience here. Documentation: 1. Passport with I-94 2. Application Main Form - 5257 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5257E.PDF 3. Application Schedule 1 Form - 5257B http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5257B_1.PDF 3. Application Family Form - 5645 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5645E.PDF 4. Payment Check ( Money Order or Certified Check) - 150$ Multiple Entry or 75$ for Single Entry 5. Two Photos. You can follow this link for the specification. (TAKE A GLUE STICK WITH YOU IF YOU ARE GOING TO NYC CONSULATE, THEY MIGHT ASK YOU TO STICK THE PHOTOS ON APPLICATION FORM) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/photospecs.asp 6. H1B - I797 Copy 7. If you are F1 to H1 then you need to submit the I-20 Copy 8. Bank Statements Showing you have enough financial support for your trip. (I submitted my 6 months statements) 9. Pay Stubs (I submitted last 3 months) 10. Employement Verification Letter (Letter from your employer saying that you working for this company, role responsiblities, salary) 11. Documention Check List For you. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5484E.PDF My Interview: ------------------ My Visitors Visa Stamping took 2 days. Day1: I took all the documention which I mentioned above and carried the originals just in case. At the security they verify the application forms and ask you to stick the photos on the application. My application was according to their requirements and they sent me in after the security check. They will give you a folder in that you need to put the Original Passport, All the application forms, Money Oder, All the Supporting documents which i mention above (Only Copies). Also you will get a small piece of paper which has a number, you need to carry that all the time. It is also required to submit back when you collect your passport. When my number was called out, I went to the counter. The consular saw the applciation and passport, asked me if all the supporting documents are in it. She said come back with that litter paper tomorrow to collect the passport betweem 1PM - 2:30PM (FYI....IF YOU FORGOT ANY APPLICATION FORMS, PHOTOS THERE IS A SMALL PHOTO STUDIO NAMED - Columbia Photo Studio, 3 W 51st Street, New York. Ph No: 212-245-8058. It is just one block Away. They will help you out in filling the application forms, take the photos and they require 20min to give it back. They do have pc's with internet access for use and also all application forms) Day 2: I went to cosulate at 1PM the next day and my number was called out. I went to the counter and the consular gave me the passport and all the supporting documents back. I got my visitors visa for 3yrs. I took a multiple entry visa. So in NYC the in person interview takes 2 days. Let me know if you need any information. All the best guys. Link to comment
elizabethsheeba
Hi Dishitha, Thanks for posting the Canadian visa information . Me and my husband are planning to go for a H1-B stamping in canada. We are thinking of applying the visitor visa by mail. Do we need the proof of travel itinerary and the U.S interview appointment letter as a required document to apply for canadian visitor visa . We couldn't make any specific travel arrangements at this time . Please let me know if we can get the visitor visa without these documents. Thanks Link to comment
dishitha
I mentioned in the application as a tourism. It doesn't really matter when we are go. Itinerary is not mandatory. What they see is the bank statements, pay stubs and employement letters for proof of income. If we can support during the travel You shuld be good if you have all these documents. All the best. FYI.... One of my friend who went without these financial supporting docs got rejected and asked him to bring the supporting docs to prove it. Link to comment
sanubdevan
Thank you all, It worked well with me ( Columbia photo studio was also helpful indeed), Though they have internet facility, they really not much into internet cafe business. In addition to that if you want any envelop or stamp or something, There is an USPS right infront of Rockefeller center, I think it is 30 Rockefeller building. you dont get any idea of usps existance there until you go inside the building to the basement. And now the visa submission office has been moved to below address and the process was smooth and they ll help you in putting the forms in order and stuffs like that. terry123
hi Dishita/ Sanubdevan, Congrats on getting your Canada visa done. I am planning to fly down to NYC to go to the Canada consulate. Have a few questions if you or others can help. 1. Do they still accept in-person submissions at the office at 1251 6th Ave C1-15 New York, NY 10020? 2. Do I have to pay anything else after I pay online or with money order or certified check? 3. Am I allowed to pickup my passport in-person or do I have to use USPS Express mail service. How much does it cost?4. Also, I am planning for my H1-b stamping in Canada, what city do you recommend? I am thinking of Toronto or Ottawa as they are on East Coast, let me know your opinions including other cities.? thanks Terry123 Link to comment
