How to get Canada visitor visa?

Check the Canadian consulate websites (Detroit, DC, Seattle, LA, NY and Buffalo). Call them and ask if they take in-person application. If you are sending by mail, do it ASAP since it may take a month or more.

There was a post in this forum in the past month (or a month and half) or so where a person mentioned about an agency who does Canadian visa. E & G services or something. Check that.

Whatever you are planning to do, do it quickly. I applied on 6th June by mail at Detroit consulate, no news yet. I send a mail yesterday asking about the status. I am not in a rush so it is fine for me. But my PPs and other papers are with them.

Good luck!!

Any body has a link to NYC consulate general of canada to book a appointment for temporary visiting visa.

I have my i140 approved and 797 approved. I have attended Ottawa consulate interview for h1b in 2006.

Do you see any problem in attending it there again??

Hi Rommy,

I have seen some one got their Canada Visa in similar fashion.

1. DS 160 - Partially fill out

2. Calendar Print oug -Available dates for h1 B stamping

3. Provide tentative schedule using excel itinerary templates online.

4. Employer Letter - Better if you have it.

Your visa is given, only 6 months prior to your travel plan.

Try out by going to Consulate. Not Every case is dealt is in same way.

I personally would not recommend with partial documents, you may get Visa but further

questions may make it complex.

@rommy DS 160 and travel itinerary are not required. You need to have employment letter though.

@psr_177 You don't have to book an appointment for visiting visa. If you are planning to apply in-person at NYC Consulate, you've to be there at the Consulate by 8AM. NYC Consulate accepts documents from 8AM to 10AM only.

Hi Pratap,

No appointments allowed.. It is just walk in. It took 10 minutes.. 5 min wait, no line Wat so ever.

I recommend just go to Consulate and try.. If it is LA, I can confirm 100%.

How long I need to wait to get the visiting visa if submitted by person?

  • 1 year later...

Hi everyone,

I need to travel to Canada by 3rd week of June for an appointment. I live in Philadelphia so based on my research it seems like the best way to get my Canadian tourist visa is by going to the consulate general of Canada in NYC. I read some conflicting information online about how much time it actually takes to get the visa and get the passport back. Someone said he got it the same dayand collected the passport next. Is that true? Or it is same day visa but passport is mailed later? Or is it apply in person and then its just waiting game to get the visa and then passport mailed to myn address?

Please advise. I am wondering if its realistic for me to travel to Canada in the 3rd of june.

Thanks!
