H1B Stamping Chennai (Husband and Wife)

Hello All,

My wife and I just came back from India with our H1B visa stamping (Chennai) and wanted to share the info with the rest of the community.

Case: Husband - H1B renewal, Wife: H1B First time, Baby: US citizen, 13 month old.

Place: Chennai

Time: 9 am husband, 9 15 wife. Had to take separate appointment since both were applying for H1B. Could have taken a group only if one of us was applying to a dependent (H4, L2).

Job: Both work for a major oil and gas company, direct hire in the Houston.

Education: Both have MS from top tier university in Texas.

We conformed with VFS (Via email, carried the copy of the email to the consulate) if we could bring our baby with. One advise, please carry minimal food, milk, etc.

Our interview was on May 31 @ Chennai, 9:00 am (Husband), 9:15 (Wife).

After initial document verification, photo etc. we moved to the interview building. Wait time was 10 min.

VO questions to Husband:

1. Company?

2. Salary?

(Baby was with me, he asked for her passport, swiped baby's passport and asked what’s her name)

Said approved. Did not even look at me. (I can bet it was less than a min)

VO (Young girl) questions to Wife:

1. Company?

2. Where did you buy the bracelet? (Wife answered Forever 21)

Smiled and said visa approved.

I made it sound very easy deliberately because IT IS! Especially, if you a MS and working as a direct hire with a good company, don’t worry!
