Hi every one,

For long time I was reading the blogs in this forum to know details of H1-B visa stamping. First of all I would like to thank you every one who posted their visa experience here. Your posts helped me a lot. Now it is my turn to share my experience here.

I booked my visa appointment in Nuevo laredo, Mexico.

July 4th 4.45 PM ASC appointment,

July 5th 9.00 AM US consulate appointment.

ASC appointment:

They will check your DS-160 confirmation and Passport. They will take your finger prints and picture. For Nueve Lardo consulate we do not have to upload photo in DS-160 form. We do not have to carry any passport size photos. At ASC they will take your picture.

US consulate visa interview:

There were too many people for interview since yesterday was holiday. I was in line at 8.30 AM, I went to visa officer counter at 1.15 PM.

Interview questions:

  1. Where do you work? ANS: I told my location
  2. What do you do? Answered my role
  3. Do yo have a letter from client? YES
  4. While he is looking at client letter, he asked me, so you are working for the same client last 3 year? ANS: Yes sir
  5. Are you going to work for the same client? ANS: Yes sir, My contract extended for another 3 years.
  6. Here, he read the complete client letter. Then he cancelled my old visa, which is expired. Then he asked why did you come to Nueve Laredo, why not Canada? Ans: This is the nearest consulate to my place
  7. Visa officer told, If I were you, I would have selected Canada. Nueve Laredo is not safe. I replied him, I thought I will be here for just two day, two days is OK to stay here. He replied, be careful it is not safe here.
  8. Then he was trying to pull my petition info, I think my petition in not updated in the system, he asked another office, he said , you request for it today, it will be updated in a day.
  9. By this time, I know I am getting my visa.
  10. Finally he said, Your visa is approved. You can call consulate at 4 PM today to check your passport availability for pick up. I checked with them, it is not ready at 4 PM. I am waiting for my passport.

Over all , Visa interview at Nuevo Laredo is cool. If you have a client letter, you will get the visa with out any issues.

There was another person with me, he is a full time employee. His H1-B is beyond 6 years. He was asked to show his I-140 approval. Make sure you carry your I-140 approval, if your H1 is after 6 years.

Hi there,

Thank you for your post. I haven't decided yet to go to either Canada or Mexico for my H1 B Visa stamping but I am planning to go to Nuevo Laredo for my H1 B visa stamping in July 2012. Can you please give me more information where did you stayed while your interview for visa.

I have looked in the google maps and I have found that Laredo, Tx is very near to the U.S Consulate of Nuevo Laredo. Is it ok to land in Laredo and travel to the US Consulate?

Please let me know your suggestions and how should be the itinerary.

Thanks,

Johnnie
