Changing jobs with I-140 Approved and H1-B remaining for 9 months

Hi All

I have an approved I-140 in EB-2 category and my inital 6 years of H1-B are completing in April 2013.

I know that if I change my job now, the new company can file for an H1-B extension using the approved I-140 but my question is:

Do they need to file a new PERM application and new I-140 before filing for an H1-B extension ? or can the new employer simply file for H1-B exntension using the old employers approved I-140?

I really need an answer urgently. So I'll be very thankful if someone can Please respond.

New PERM and I140 are only required to re-start your GC and not reqd for H1 extn. though you are eligible for 3 yrs extn approval is based on SOW/approved project in your new job. Hope it helps.

Can someone else confirm this?

Also I want to know if the new employer files for a new H1(H1 transfer) more than 6 months before my initial H1 expiration...would I still get a 3 year extension?
