Loomis vs. pickup at consulate?

There was a time (about 3 years ago) when I could go to Canada, apply for visa stamp in the AM, and pickup from the same place (ottawa embassy) in the PM.

Now, their website talks about Loomis, or mailing to Canadian address. Is the same / next / 2-day pickup service not available any more?

No. No more pickups at the embassy. You have to go to Loomis or pay extra and have Loomis deliver to an address you specify

Yes, Loomis now handles the passport delivery. Which sucks - no offense to loomis but it just adds an extra step to the whole process.
