H4 Filing

Hi,

I had my H1 and my wife's H4 valid until Mar 2013 and i applied for H1 transfer last year May 2011. I did not apply for H4 since she had valid H4. My transfer H1 got approved for till July 2012. This week i applied for H1 extension with new company and i asked them to include for H4 with H1 extension. But they are saying we can not include H4 since she is having more 8 months validity. Once she falls under six months, they are asking me to apply. Is this true? I know this is valid if we are applying for H1 extension but not for H4. As for as my knowledge, whenever we apply for H1 extension or transfer, we can include H4 to get new dates. Is this not true? If this is true, i will ask my employer to apply them. Any help is greatly appreciated.
