H1B Stamping pending due to Damaged Passport -- Passport renewal questions

Hi,

I have been in the US on H1B, but I am currently in India for a personal visit. I reached India 4 days ago to get my H1B restamped, but my passport is detected damaged by the consular. I am applying for the reissue of the passport at the Washington DC Indian Embassy (see http://www.vfsglobal...pplication.html).

Question 1: I have a question regarding return address. I plan to send an envelope with return address as my Company Address. Will my new passport be sent to the address in the envelope, OR will it be sent to the address in the Application form, which different from my Company Address.

Question 2: What can I do to send the new passport to my Company Address?

Question 3: Can I ask the passport center to NOT send the passport by mail, but wait for my friend (with the authority letter given in the website) to collect it in person, so that he can courier it to me separately?

Question 4: Do I need to provide "Affidavit for No Status," or does my approved I-797 notice suggests that I have a valid Visa Visa? The reason I am confused is because the site says "If Visa Status is Expired/Pending: “Affidavit of No Status” is required." Do I fall under this category?

You cannot apply for Passport from USA since you are not currently staying in USA and currently present in India. You need to apply from India only. To apply from USA one needs a valid I-94 and a copy needs to send to embassy with PP application

Read the details on link you posted for “Affidavit of No Status” correctly. It is applicable for GC holders who are applying for PP services from USA.

When I have appeared for my H1B visa interview in India for first time, Visa is approved - but asked to submit the new passport due to some damage, by mentioning it on 221g. I have applied in Tatkal, and submitted the new passport at VFS.
