jaideepg
I'm currently in the US on a B1 visa and am looking for jobs here. Is it possible to for a prospective employer to do a change of status from B1 to H1B? Will this be impacted by the current quota limit in India for H1B? Thanks. Link to comment
Belle
The quota is not for India, but for all countries. It is possible to change status if you have an H1 visa available, however, the H1 limit for 2013 (status may start in Oct 2012) has been reached. You can only get a new H1 starting Oct 2013, for which your employer should file in the spring of next week. Link to comment
gorantlamk
No. not from b1 to h1. You will have to go out of the country and get your h1 stamped. Link to comment
Attorney_22
Technically it is possible to change status from B1 to H1B, however the specifics of your circumstances will determine the best course of action. You should also be aware the current H1B cap for fiscal year 2013 has been reached. Therefore, it is advisable to speak directly with a qualified U.S. immigration attorney to discuss any opportunities available to you. Link to comment
