nofas
I have been reading the forum closely and wanted to share my experience with the readers. My appointment was at 10 AM in the morning. After the initial formalities, I was lead to the 20th floor where the actual interview takes place. The whole process took about 40-45 minutes from entry to exit. I did not have the original copy of I-797A. I took a copy with me. The VO asked for the original and I said that it might be with the lawyer as I never thought its mandatory and a copy would do ( As mentioned in the appointment confirmation letter ) He got up to check with some one and returned saying that - "Let's see how good your attorney is " - This just meant that he wanted to verify that I was in the system (PIMS). Questions asked by VO: Who do you work for? What does your company do? Where is your company located? Is that where you work? Did you work for XXXX in the past? Which branch? What are the countries you have visited in the past? Where did you go to school in US? When did you graduate? What was your major? Do you use what you have studied at work? He did not ask these questions one after the other but in breaks while working on something on his computer. After the questions, it was a long wait (10 ~12 minutes) at the counter while he clicked away on his computer screen. Finally he said, "The good news is that you are in the system. I am also approving your visa and you can pick it up from Loomis in 3-5 business days." I thanked him and got back out. I am glad that I was in the "System" , which I am guessing was PIMS. I had no knowledge of this but somehow it worked out. Worst case scenario he would have had me wait in Vancouver for PIMS verification to complete. My 2 cents: Confidence and a positive attitude is more important than anything else. For those worried about common Muslim names, I have one. It should not be a concern. Good luck to all those appearing in the future ! Email me at syed.s.ali (at) hotmail dot com if you have any questions. Link to comment
