L1B expiring, have valid I94. Is it legal to work after L1B expiration date?

I am on L1B visa currently which expires in August 2012. However I have I-94 valid till Jan 2015. Can I stay and work legally for the same employer even after my visa expiration with valid I-94? I have been in US for 1.5 years. I see mixed comments everywhere.

If a foreign national seeks readmission as a Blanket L-1,the individual's visa is unexpired, and the Blanket Petition is still valid, the foreign national will ordinarily be admitted for three years. Assuming you obtained your visa under a company's L1 blanket, you would generally be permitted to stay and work during the time period indicated on the I94 card.
