Just thought of listing my experience which might be useful for some of you.

Location: Calgary

Total wait time: 2 hrs from start to end

Mode: EC

Notes: Keys, Cell or any other electronic devices not allowed. Leave it in the room or in the car. Remote control car keys as well not allowed. There is a Café just next to the initial security check which provides locker service. Some said that plastic folders are not allowed but I had no issue with it or no questions form security either.

Stage 1: Initial security check at the lobby and document arrangement. The documents will be handed back and asked to wait.

Documents I submitted were: DS160 receipt, I797, Company Letter, Paystubs for 6months, last 3 W2, Bank Statements and petition. Did not submit client letter. I had it but kept it with me. I was ready to submit if was asked.

Stage 2: Will be escorted to 10th floor. Secondary security check and will enter to the embassy. You will also get the token number. Will ask to wait in the waiting area till your number is called.

Stage 3: Your token will be displayed. Note you have to keep watching the counter as it does not have speaker facility like other places or not even a beep. Or just look over and check the windows if your number has displayed or not.

Stage 4: Once the token is called you will be asked to submit documents and asked to wait. Documents will be passed to VO internally.

Stage 5: Your token will be displayed again where you will be asked for finger printing and will be asked to wait again.

Stage 6: Your token will be displayed again and this is where you will meet VO.

VO: How long you are working for this company?

VO: How many years of total experience do you have?

VO: Have you done MS?

VO: Show me your transcripts?

VO: What brought you here at Calgary?

VO: Why your wife is not with you?...this questions is relevant if your petion includes H4 for your spouse

VO: Do you have kid(s)?

VO: Are they US citizens?

VO: Where is your client located? VO got confused as my petition had old LCA and I did not submit latest one. Note: I would recommend submitting new LCA if it is different than the petition.

VO: Has your company filed for GreenCard?

VO: What stage you are in?

VO: Your visa is approved. Follow the form to track your passport. VO returned all the documents except Passport and I797.

Points to ponder:

From the window you can see what document VO is looking at

You can always form your reply that is closely related to the specific document

If you have not heard correctly then feel free to ask VO to repeat the question

Look back and make sure you have grabbed all the paper work…as a human being we all get nervous as this is one of the experiences we would like to avoid but we have to FACE IT!!!!

Congrats SeanK!

Could you please share what did you reply for this question.

VO: What brought you here at Calgary?

Thank you!

I had multiple entry Business Visitor visa for Canada hence my answer may not assist you too much. You can form your answer base on visitng Canada and stamping.

I was there between 8-9:30AM on Feb-21. What time was your interview. We might have crossed each others path?

Hi seank,

Congratulations for getting the visa:-)

My interview was at 10AM. But I was at the consulate from ~9AM to 11AM, so it is quite possible that our paths crossed.

I did get admin processing last time too (went to Vancouver in March of 2010). The VO asked me some very basic questions and said that like last time they will have to do additional processing. She took my resume and first page of I797 and said that it could take 2 to 3 weeks to finish the processing. I thanked her and walked out.
