andyvisaq
My priority date is Sep 2008, so it became current as of Jan 2012 and will stay current in Feb 2012. My wife is currently in India, so I'm waiting for her to come back to US towards the end of February, so we can file 485 together. If we couldn't file it on time by the end of February, we may choose to file in March if the date still stays current. If we do so, or file in the end of Feb, does anyone see any downside of applying two months after your date becomes current? Will it mean that getting our green card will be delayed due to lot of other people that would have filed their application before us? If someone please shed some light on this, it will help me make a decision. Thanks. Link to comment
digisys
The applications are processed on the first come basis. So people with PD after you but applied for AOS before yours will be processed first. Link to comment
Belle
The USCIS is not reporting an avalanche of new applications (this is why the dates are still progressing). I bet there will be no difference whatsoever. Link to comment
user_2000
Hope what Belle said is correct. Mine also Dec,2008 priority date EB2. Valid to file in Jan,2012. Planning to file in Feb 3rd week due to some reasons. Thanks, Link to comment
andyvisaq
So it is true that the applications are processed on the first come basis and not based on priority date? If so, then I will be at a disadvantage if I delay my filing. Please clarify this. Thanks for your reply guys. Link to comment
