How to add a Dependent who is on G4 visa ?

Hello,

My PD became current and I would like to add my wife to my GC.

However , she is on a diplomatic visa i.e. G4, ending August 2012.

Can I add her based on this visa ? Has anybody gone through this process before ?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

A dependent is never added.

When the PD is current, the dependent can file an I-485 based on your I-140. That's all there is to it.

This process is as complicated as filing the taxes or maybe worse !

The word on the 'narrow streets' (unique case here) is she might have to file a I566 form ?

Can you please shed some ligh on what an I566 form is ? When she might need to do this in the process ?

Forms are available on the USCIS website.

I suggest you consult a good immigration lawyer for specifics. That form is just for an interagency request, i.e., the file has to be requested from another agency.

Generally, an individual in G status filing an Adjustment of Status petition will need to include Forms I-508 & I-566. If you have additional questions it is advisable to speak directly with an attorney experienced in such matters.
