Case Number not visible on the website

Hey Guys,

My wife had applied for H4 visa and was given a pink slip. We had submitted all the documents and for next 3 days we were able to see the message "your case is undergoing processing". I checked it yesterday at 7am IST and it still showed the same messaged. I later on checked the status around 12:30PM IST the same day and it said "We were not able to identify Case # XXXXXXX-XXX-X Please make sure you have entered your case number correctly." I called VFS and they said that if this message appears on the website it means they have started processing your case. Does anybody have any idea if this information is relevant.

I have read couple of blogs and everyone has different experience about this issue. Can you guys please provide your thoughts on why this may have happened or what this possibly could be?
