Filing 485 for self and spouse together

Hi,

My priority date is current under EB2 Category in January bulletin. We are filing adjustment of status for me and my wife who are H1B and H4 respectively. My questions are:

1. Can both our application packages go in the same envelope?

2. If answer to question 1 is yes, Could I write a cover letter which includes details about both me and my wife's case (same letter) and submit everything as one package.

I sent my petitions without cover letters, and everything seemed to have worked fine. If you have a pretty straightforward case, it's an option.
