GrizzlyBear
Could someone list all the vaccines required for I-485 application? Link to comment
Shurap1
Go to USCIS civil surgeon he will provide you details on this. Vaccinations required changes from person to person depending on immunity tests. Link to comment
Belle
MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) , TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) or at least tetanus, varicella (chickenpox) if you have not had one as a child. Those are all the types of vaccines that are good to have repeated as an adult, especially, if you have or plan to have children. MMR cannot be given to pregnant women because of rubella being harmful to them, but it is very advisable to have one done before getting pregnant for the same exact reason. Link to comment

dknight
You might be told by the Doctor for the following mandatory vaccines. MMR (To be repeated even if you had 1 as a child especially if it is more than 10 years old from today) If Pregrnant MMR will note be given Tetanus ( To be repeated even if you had 1 as a child especially if it is more than 10 years old from today) Flu shot Varicella (If Pregnant Varicella is to be avoided) MMR and Varicella will not be given if pregnant (if doubtful Doctor will do a pregnancy test). If given then one should not be pregnant in next 1 month. Link to comment
Belle
I outlined above the ones that the dr gave to me, and I had not brought any records, so I guess, they are the only ones. I don't think anything else other than MMR is counter-indicated in pregnancy. My advice is to get as much done as you can before her pregnancy. Even if something is not required, like Rotavirus, you may want to opt for it. The baby will be bringing a lot of germs home, and one of those days you might puke up a storm while the baby is fine just because the rotavirus you are immune from your childhood is a different strain from what's predominant in the US (and your baby got vaccinated). Speaking from my own sorry experience 8-() Link to comment

dknight
Yes that medical records if shown to your civil surgeon might help you. Although vaccination such as tetanus is valid only for 10 years and if you haven't taken 1 in last 10 years then you might be asked to take one. Link to comment
dinesh_hyd
What will happen to i-485 application if someone could not take the mandatory immunizations due to reasons like pregnancy? Will I-485 be denied or will the USCIS issue an RFE to complete those mandatory immunizations after the baby is born? Link to comment

dknight
Worst case RFE...to complete vaccinations. Why would there be an RFE to complete vaccinations? For God's sake these are live vaccines and could hurt the foetus. Link to comment

Well the RFE will come, if the baby is delivered and obgyn gives the approval, then the vaccination can be performed else one can respond with the clarification on why vaccinations can not be complicated at this time. soniagupta9
Hello, My husband's priority date just got current. We went for Vaccinations, and realized that I will need to take Vericella since I never had chickenpox before nor the vaccination. I am trying to get pregnant and want to strictly avoid taking this vaccine. The civil surgeon said that she can put this in the record, but I will receive a RFE for pregnancy when they start processing, I am not pregnant by then, I will have to take the vaccine that time. My question is, can I submit a waiver for not having the vericella vaccine? I do not want to take any risks nor want to postpone my plans due to this vaccine? Any other possible solutions to my problem? Link to comment
tusharvk
i do not know if varicella is bad for women trying to get pregnant. This is a query for your doctor are you sure that you have not had chickenpox? if you do not remember well, you can get a titer ordered from your primary doctor that will assess this. if you have immunity based on blood work, problem solved. Any other possible solutions to my problem? The only way you can avoid the vaccine is if you are pregnant or else take the vaccine postpone your family plans for 3 months atleast and then you can start. Most of us might have had this vaccine in the past. Try to get the records from your family physician. Or else send the 693 form without getting vaccine and wait for RFE which will take a while to come and who knows you might be pregnant by then. If you are very lucky you may not get an RFE. So weigh all your options and decide whats important for you. Link to comment
Belle
Why would there be an RFE to complete vaccinations? For God's sake these are live vaccines and could hurt the foetus. The only vaccine that can be detrimental in pregnancy is Rubella, which is part of the MMR. It is highly advisable to have MMR before pregnancy, but if did not happen, then you can take one after. My advice is to take the vaccine in the beginning of a cycle, and then you are good (it takes at least 3 weeks to get to implantation phase). One thing that can for sure be worse than a vaccination before pregnancy - an actual varicella desease. Link to comment
