san4u28
Hi, I have 2 questions 1. Say a dependent returns to US on Day 1, applies for H1B, when should she apply for SSN (I beleive there is a processing delay from DHS to SSA) 2. Any guesses as to when will this years H1B quote run out, i am planning of calling my wife back to US in 2-3 weeks time. Please respond. Thanks, San. Link to comment
JoeF
The person could only apply for an SSN when the H1 is approved. Oh, and not having the SSN yet is not an excuse for not getting paid, once the person is on H1. Payroll systems have options for this kind of scenario. Link to comment
redgreenbluee
please consult a lawyer. you can only apply SSN if you have proof of work authorization like H1 approval or others (EAD, etc). livliv
H1 cap is close to being closed. It is not needed that she should be in US for filing H1, if she already has a job and the employer is willing to file. Link to comment
