H1B expires in oct and visa stamping in feb?

Hi,

Here is my situation:

I am on F1 from 2005 to 2009

I got H1 in 2009 valid from 2009 oct to 2012 sep.

I am planning to go to India in feb 2012 and I need to go for stamping. The question I have is it ok to go for stamping just 6 months before the expiry of H1 status to go for stamping? Or is it too late for the visa to get stamped. Please advice...
