Working two jobs when in transition from F-1 OPT to H-1B

Recommended Posts

I’m currently working two full-time jobs at companies A and B under F-1 OPT. Both companies registered me for the H-1B lottery. I was just informed that my H-1B registration for company A was selected, but not for company B. Do I have to quit my job at company B to move forward with the H-1B petition for company A and when would be the best time to quit (e.g., ASAP, before the H-1B petition for company A is filed, before Oct 1)?

Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for your insight! Why it is that I can only keep working for company A until Sep 30 and not both companies? My understanding is that the period from H-1B filing to Oct. 1 is still considered under F-1 OPT, which should allow me to hold multiple jobs as long as they are related to my field of study, no?

Appreciate any elaboration you may have.

Quit your job on Sept. 30.  Your status changes to H1b from October 01, 2023.  Good Luck.
