SSN application mismatch

I am wondering if anyone else has had an issue with SSA when applying for a social security number.  I am a TN visa holder and when I applied for a social security card, the SAVE system showed a mismatch between SSA and DHS.  DHS has me wrongly labeled as a Legal Permanent Resident.  It has been 2 months since I first applied and DHS hasn't confirmed that my TN visa is the correct classification and I am forced to "wait".  I discovered 18 years ago, a CBP agent entered me into their system as a LPR when crossing the border at the Ft Lauderdale Airport.  This mistake is haunting me 18 years later.  USCIS and CBP say there is nothing they can do to correct this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
