ksribhas
Hi - My understanding is a legal permanent resident can travel outside of USA if a reentry permit is filed BEFORE their exit and AFTER finger prints are taken. And that REP is usual valid for 2 years. My question is more on how the 2 years are counted. Is it from the day of the exit of the LPR or day of the approval of the REP. Example : Rep filing date MAR 2023; Bio date : APR 2023 ; LPR Exit date MAY 2023 ; REP Approval AUG 2023. In this situation when does the REP expire ? two years from MAY 2023 or 2 years from AUG 2023? If the latter, would the LPR be not able to potentially spend more than 2 years? Thanks for your time in looking into it. Quote Link to comment
Attorney_15
A reentry permit is generally valid for a 2 year period based on the validity period appearing on the reentry permit. Quote Link to comment
