AshTa Posted January 4 Report Share Posted January 4 URGENT!! I need urgent help with immigration-related issues. I worked at Company A and was part of the recent layoff with 2 months of Non-Working Notice period till today Jan 4th, 2023. That means I was getting non-working payroll till today Jan 4th, 2023. My new employer filed my H1B with Jan 12th joining date and I got soft approval today via email (no hard copy of I797 yet). I want to move my joining date to late January. However, my immigration lawyer (with a new company) is asking me to join on Jan 12th only as I will go out of status since I will be unemployed till Jan 30th and they will also need to file an amendment for a change in joining date. I am still in the US currently and can't travel outside and my H1B transfer is in process. I am trying to reach out to an external immigration lawyer but not getting an appointment on short notice.
