work authorization for L2 based on receipt notice and approved i-539

My L2 EAD expired in November. I had filed for my L2 extension and L2 EAD together way before the expiry. I got my L2 extension approved till 2023 and is waiting for the i-765 approval. Is it a correct understanding that based on the new rule, I can continue to work for 180 days from date of expiry based on my L2 extension and i-765 receipt notice?
