SN2021
Hello I am US citizen planning to sponsor my Mom (72 year old) for GC. My birth certificate shows my Dad's name (Deceased) only as it is customary in India. I have a India Government issued OCI/PIO card which shows both my parents names. Also, my old India passports (3) and my Moms passports (three of them) show my Dad's name. I have filed I-864 several times in past 20 years for my Mom during her travels to US. Would a letter (along with I-130) with all document scans and explanation be enough to prove relationship? Please advise. Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
You need to approve with whatever proof you have based on the instructions to the I-130. They may ask for DNA proof just they asked us when I applied for my Mom in 2015. Quote Link to comment
SN2021
Thank you Pontevecchio! I called an approved DNA test site and was told by a kind person to wait till RFE / Case # comes through before taking the DNA test and submit all the proof I have first, as you suggested. Thanks again for providing advise to so many folks on this forum! Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
Yes. That would be correct. You cannot preempt the matter. In my case, my mother was visiting us and we did the DNA test at QUEST Diagnostics here and she got the GC by Consular Process. About 400 USD. Quote Link to comment
