Use I-485 EAD (thru spouse filing) for job change while waiting for H1b renewal

Hello,

This forum helped me many times in past 15 yrs with many immigration related queries. Again back to this forum to get expert inputs before I make a decision. Here is my situation. 

1. I am on H1b and my I-140 is approved. My Priority date is Jan-2016 on EB2. Couple of months back, I applied for H1b renewal and waiting for response. 

2. My spouse PD is May-2012 on EB3 which is current. When this PD was eligible for filing date in Oct-2020, I applied for EAD and I-485 along with spouse. 

Our biometrics is done already and expecting EAD. I would like to know if I can leave my H1b job and join other openings with EAD once I receive it. I am getting better opportunities for EAD/GC, so thinking of shifting. 

Please share your inputs for better understanding. Thanks again.

You can use the EAD to work for anybody. You do not have to be in H1 status any longer.
