nprakash
Hello, I have a house in US for which I am still paying the mortgage and am working on H1B visa. Can anyone suggest if I am allowed to rent out my house in USA and have rental income on the H1B visa? Leavemessageh1b
You can have rental income but can not be a part of placing ad, showing house , receiving and screening applicants coz that's considered as work . Get a property management company or someone who is not dependent on visa to take care of it. Quote Link to comment
rksingh
Rental income while on H1B falls in a gray area........if you are simply collecting rent then you may be OK. But if you are actively maintaining the property to make it rent worthy, responding to tenant calls etc then it can be considered as active employment in violation of H1B laws. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
On H1 you can not manage the rental, so you would have to hire a company that manages all aspects of the rental. Quote Link to comment
