My company applied for my H1B in 2018 which was approved in 2018 and I received an approved I-797B. In 2019 my company went through an acquisition and had to file an amendment following which I received a new I-797B. I traveled to India for my consular appointment in 2019 and returned to the US with an approved H1B visa stamp in Sep 2019. The question I had was: Would my H1B max 6 year period be calculated from my first I-797B date (which would be from 2018)? or from my first entry into the US on an approved H1B visa (which would be September 2019)? I've tried to find the answer online but am confused what constitutes as first date of H1B. Thanks for your help. Quote Link to comment
