studentGrad
I am currently studying master's on H4 Visa and I am planning to go for F1 stamping before the summer semester. I deferred the spring 21 semester. My University told me that if I enroll full-time in the Summer 21 semester and Fall 21 semester. I will be eligible to apply for OPT in the Fall semester as I would be on F1 for 1 academic year i.e two consecutive semesters(Summer 21+Fall 21). Please suggest if this information is correct. JoeF
For OPT, the rules in the law say that you have to have been in good academic standibg for the last academic year and that you are in F1 status when applying. Of course, universities can add additional requirements, like being in F1 status for the last academic year. They have a financial incentive for this, because students on F1 always pay non-resident tuition. Quote Link to comment
studentGrad
Thanks for your reply. You mean to say, deferring Spring 21 semester would not cause any issues in OPT eligibility if I enroll full-time in Summer 21 and Fall 21 semesters. Quote Link to comment
