H1B extension beyond 6 years - I 140 approved

Hi 

I have an I140 approved with a previous employer and I am with the current employer for over 2 years with no GC processing. I am due for an extension in a few months and would like to know my chances of an h1b Visa extension as its been 6 years of my stay here. I hear varied responses internally and would like an expert opinion and advice. My i140 is valid and is filed with my previous employer. Kindly help out as i also hear my HR say there are chances of having to return to India due to current uscis situation and rules.

Using approved old employer I140 you can apply for H1B extension with new employer.
