EB3 and EB2 with the same employer

I was in an EB3 status with an approved I140 and with a priority Feb 2012. Later I was converted to EB2 in 2016 (with the same priority date ) when I got promoted from Individual Contractor to Technology Manager, both of these are with the same employer and both are from the same job family (Software Engineering).

Can my employer use my approved I140 / PERM which was filed EB3  category in 2012 and file my I485 though I am on EB2 now.
